Urgent: Emergency Cards Missing for Some 7th & 8th Grade Students
Attention Parents and Guardians:
A number of 7th & 8th grade students have not yet submitted their completed and signed emergency cards. These cards are crucial for school personnel in the event of emergencies such as evacuations or health concerns.
Please note: Students who do not submit their emergency cards may not be allowed to participate in school-sponsored field trips.
If your child has not turned in their emergency card, please have them stop by the Main Office to pick up a new one. We kindly ask that the completed cards be returned as soon as possible.

Student of the Month
Wappingers Rotary Club Student of the Month
Each third Thursday of the month, we celebrate the outstanding achievements of our 8th grade students at Wappingers Junior High and neighboring schools. These students are nominated by their teachers for their excellence in various areas such as overcoming obstacles, kindness to others, leadership abilities, and academic or behavioral improvements.
The Rotary Club Student of the Month program is organized by Wendy McNamara and supported by our generous sponsor, DCH Toyota Wappingers Falls. The awardees are recognized at a lunch meeting at Longobardi Restaurant, where they invite family and faculty to join in the celebration.

Spelling Bee 2025 – Join the Challenge!
Attention WJHS Students!
The Annual Spelling Bee is just around the corner, and we’re looking for the top spellers to compete! Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just want to test your skills, this is your chance to shine.
Important Dates and Details:
Monday, 1/5 & Tuesday, 1/6
Students who would like to participate in the Spelling Bee should register with their ELA teacher by the end of the day on Tuesday. Don’t forget to study the word list, available on your ELA Google Classroom. Additional information will be posted there as well.
Need help? Speak with your ELA teacher or visit Mrs. Coelho in Room 210.

This is the last day to register for the Spelling Bee! If you haven’t signed up yet, make sure to do so by the end of the school day today.

Bell-to-Bell Cellphone Ban
New York State signed into law a ban on all cell phones and other internet-capable devices in schools. This ban will take effect this September. We’d like to share an overview of the law and what the expectations will be for all of our students in September.

Congratulations to Our Boys Basketball Team!
The Wappingers Boys Basketball team secured a strong win over Poughkeepsie, with Luke Veeneman leading the way, scoring 20 points. Jordan Powell added 17 points, and Parker Hansen contributed 6 points. The team also showed excellent defense, with Brenden Pedrozo and Ben Whitted stepping up on that end. The boys are back in action on Wednesday against John Jay Cross River.
In another great team effort, Wappingers defeated John Jay Cross River with Luke Veeneman scoring 16 points and Jordan Powell adding 15 points. Bekim Kaba and Gio Celli also had standout performances on the boards!
Varsity Gymnastics Congratulations!
A huge shoutout to the Wappingers Varsity Gymnastics Team for kicking off their season with a fantastic win over Byram Hills, with a final score of 162.55 to 156.2.
