Honoring Black History Month

This February, Wappingers Junior High proudly celebrates Black History Month, a time to honor the achievements, contributions, and lasting impact of Black individuals throughout history and today. From leaders and innovators to artists, educators, and activists, Black voices have helped shape our nation and the world. Throughout the month, students will engage in lessons and activities that highlight Black history, culture, and excellence—encouraging learning, reflection, and respect for the diverse stories that make up our shared community.

Students enjoyed a night of music, dancing, and fun at the annual Snowflake Dance! The gym was filled with energy as friends gathered to celebrate the winter season, make memories, and enjoy time together outside of the classroom. Events like the Snowflake Dance help bring our school community together and create lasting moments for our students. Wappingers Rotary Club Student of the Month

The third Thursday of every month is a time to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our students at Wappingers Junior High and neighboring schools. Organized by Wendy McNamara and supported by our generous sponsor, DCH Toyota Wappingers Falls, the Wappingers Rotary Club recognizes 8th grade students who are nominated by their teachers for:

  • Overcoming obstacles

  • Kindness to others

  • Leadership abilities

  • Helping others

  • Improvement in behavior and/or academics

Each honoree is invited, along with family and faculty, to a celebratory lunch meeting at Longobardi Restaurant, where students are recognized for their achievements.

🩺 Physical Requirements

  • A current physical must be uploaded by the registrant

  • Physicals must be dated March 1, 2025 or later

⚕️ Medical Notes & Clearances

  • Students who require an EpiPen, diabetic medication (glucagon), or inhaler must have a SELF CARRY/ADMINISTER physician order on file

  • Students with a recent orthopedic injury or concussion must submit a separate MD clearance note
